UNREAL Candy Review

Who doesn’t love chocolate?

I have met one person in my life who actually did not like the taste of chocolate.

(I always thought he needed his head examined.)

BzzAgent was fab enough to send me a coupon for a free UNREAL candy bar of my choice,

as well as a bunch of BOGO coupons to keep for myself pass along to my besties!

Because I adore Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups,

I went to my nearest CVS and got UNREAL’s version

called “UNREAL77 Peanut Butter Cups UNJUNKED.”

The UNJUNKED brand has:

  • no artificials

  • no hydrogenateds

  • no corn syrups

  • no preservatives

  • no GMOs (Genetically-Modified Organisms)

This particular package has:

  • 3g of fiber

  • 5g of protein

  • 115mg of sodium

  • 12g of fat

  • 11g of sugar

  • 190 calories

They come fresh out of the package,

not in any kind of wrapping.

Though this chocolate was sweet,

I don’t think it was sweet enough.

It tasted a little bitter –

more dark chocolate-y than milk chocolate.

I suppose that’s because all the horrible chemically things

candy makers usually put in chocolate are absent in this brand.

The peanut butter on the inside was divine –

very soft and moist, not dry and crumbly like in a Reese’s.

But if you asked me if I’d rather eat healthy chocolate

or a bad-for-you Reese’s…

I’d choose Reese’s because of the difference in the chocolate tastes.

I think I need to try the other types that this brand offers:

  • Chocolate candy shell peanuts (think peanut M&Ms)
  • Chocolate candy shell (M&Ms)
  • Chocolate caramel nougat (think Milky Way)
  • Chocolate caramel peanuts nougat (think Snickers)

I think I’ll try Chocolate Caramel Nougat next because I sure do like my Milky Ways.

UNREAL has a limited release right now.

You can currently find the brand at CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens, Staples, Michael’s, Ralph’s, Kroger, Food4Less, Fred Meyer, Rite Aid, Big Y, Wegmans, Tedeschi Food Shops and BJ’s.

Bic Soleil Savvy Review plus Coupon Giveaway

The Bic Soleil (pronounced “soh-lay”) Savvy is the newest razor with refillable cartridges for women from Bic. These are priced at $6.97 at Walmart and $7.99 at CVS (wait for a good sale).

Shaving Tips provided by Bic:

Shave at Night

Shaving removes dead skin cells and the superficial layer of skin. While this process is healthy, it reduces your skin’s defenses for a couple of hours. Shaving at night gives your skin time to recover its strength and suppleness to resist irritation.

Shave Clean Skin

To help prevent infection and bumps, make sure your skin is perfectly clean before you shave. Apply hot water beforehand or shave after showering. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your hair, making it easier to shave.

Apply Shaving Cream or Gel

Use shaving cream or gel with Aloe Vera when shaving — it’s gentler on your skin than regular soap and can help lift hair. Lather the cream or gel, then leave it on for two minutes prior to shaving. Once your hair is softened, the razor will glide more easily over skin.

Use a Sharp Blade

Change your blades regularly, especially if you have sensitive skin. On sensitive areas like your bikini line and underarms, shaving with a dull blade can result in red spots.

Comes with 4 cartridges

3 blades with Vitamin E strip

Lightweight with rubber grips

After a test armpit shave (no pic of that, gross), I was pleasantly surprised by how close the shave was. The head pivoted nicely as promised.

However, I must point out a little concern.

I previously purchased a razor just like this in August called the Bic Soleil Shimmer, only it had 4 blades. In fact, I am currently using it as my main razor.

Top is Savvy, bottom is Shimmer

Left is Shimmer, right is Savvy

You can see that the only differences are that the Savvy is a tad shorter, has more grip on the sides, and is more translucent. Looking at the Bic website, the Shimmer is no longer listed as one of their promoted products.

As I generally enjoy a 4 blade razor, I will continue using my Shimmer until I am out of cartridges.

Then I will enjoy the Savvy.

Comment on my blog or Facebook page if you would like a $3 off coupon sent to you, while supplies last!

(The Bic Soleil Savvy and coupons were sent to me by BzzAgent for review. All opinions and images are mine.)

Vocalpoint Review: Downy Unstoppables

Look what I got in the mail from Vocalpoint!

Downy Unstoppables

It is a full-size bottle of Downy Unstoppables In-Wash Scent Booster! Plus socks!

Neat bottle

Scent beads

These cute little scent beads go in your washing machine before you put in the clothes.

Shake shake

Shake a little into the cap and pour in for freshness lasting up to 30 days.

What I really think: I’ve had this product for 28 days and I’ve used it several times. First, measuring into the cap is pointless. All you need is 10-20 beads per full load (see in my hand), which I just shook out from the bottle directly into the bin. When you take off the cap to do so, it is one of those sneaky little caps that is hard to press on, most of the time flying off in a weird direction before you successfully secure the cap on the bottle.

It smells great! I have “Fresh” scent, which is described a clean, airy and crisp. It also comes in Lush (luxurious, relaxing and romantic). It smells so great, that it over powers everything. Even my scentsy plugged in to the wall. Even my husband could tell I was pulling the laundry out of the dryer when he was in the other room. Maybe it’s too much smell. Maybe 10-20 beads is too much. It was wonderful for washing my husband’s nasty, sweaty outdoor work clothes. They smelled like flowers when I pulled them out of the dryer. It also is great for masking the bleach smell after bleaching your whites.

It tastes gross. Being a full review, yes, I licked it. Don’t do it. It looks like candy, but it’s not! After I licked I had a flashback from my childhood when my mother made me hold a bar of soap in my mouth for being a potty-mouth (shudder).

My final point: I find this product useful only if you make your own laundry detergent that is scent-less and then you add this product in. It is not fabric softener – it is only scent. I would never pay money for this, because my laundry detergent already smells good. And as for the socks… They smelled like new rubber when I took them out of their package. I washed and dried them and hid them away in the sock drawer. I just pulled them out. Sniff– now they smell like sweet… rubber. Next time I wash them maybe they’ll smell better. The scent sort of lasts 28 days at least!

Bausch and Lomb Biotrue Review

I received another package from BzzAgent!

Biotrue Package

This package came with a full-size bottle of Biotrue multipurpose solution, two lens cases, an information booklet, and coupons!

Alex and I have been using this about a week so we could give it a good review.

I say: It is supposed to be more like your natural tears and keep your lenses moisturized longer for extended wear contacts. I could not tell any difference between this or any other solution I have used, but my eyes don’t get dry or stinging at the end of the day either.

He says (transcribed): I love it! I can tell a HUGE difference. I work outside and I get dirt and grime in my contacts so they usually hurt at the end of the day. I can tell a difference from using this solution because my contacts are more moisturized.

Thanks for letting us try it out, BzzAgent and Bausch and Lomb

SC Johnson Smart and Easy Spring Cleaning review

Look what came in the mail!

This is from BzzAgent.com. I signed up for free, answered some questions about me, and they sent me these products to test out and review on my blog.

The contents:
Pledge Furniture Spray
Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner foamer
Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaning gel
Glade Spring Candle
Glade Plug-Ins air freshener
$58 in coupons!

This package arrived last Monday while I was out grocery shopping. Alex, loving packages almost as much as the cat, tore this one open, knowing he would find good things inside. By the time I got home, both bathrooms had been cleaned.

Pledge Furniture Spray I have used this product before. It easily removed the layer-upon-layer of dust from the coffee table.

Scrubbing Bubbles Foam According to Alex, he said it was fun to use and cleaned the bathroom well. His complaint: after you stop using it, foam continues to eek out.

Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Gel He had done this to one of the toilets, so I got to do the other one. So simple: the gel is a blob that is in a canister. Point the canister to the side of the toilet bowl, fire the canister, and the gel blob is stuck on the side of the bowl. One week later, the blobs are still in both toilets! And as a side note, this alone makes the bathroom smell clean!

Glade Spring Candle I love Glade candles and this one is pleasant. It smells very clean.

Glade Plug-Ins air freshener Well, they sent the freshener, but not a device to plug it in to. Luckily, on the package, Alex noticed “Works with Air Wick warmers.” Ta-da! I plugged in our bathroom. After a couple of hours, the scent permeated into our attached bedroom with the door shut. The smell was too strong, so I moved it to the living room. After a few hours, I got a headache from the smell of it. Way too strong for us.

Thanks for the free products SC Johnson and BzzAgent!

Digiorno Party a Success!

Saturday, the 19, I had the Digiorno Pizza and Hoops House party at my in-laws and invited our families to join. The consensus was “yes, this is good, but not as good as delivery.” Sorry, Digiorno.

But we had a great time!

The cheesy breadsticks were yummy, I heard the wings were great and the cookies were straight dough from Nestle Tollhouse, so of course those were good.

We had a great time playing with the basketball hoop and even held our own March Madness tournament with games of “horse.”

A Whole New (Technological) World!

No, I am not talking about Aladdin. I currently do no have internet at my home. But I am at home. Right now. Typing this. Over the internet.

By using my cell phone’s 3G nework.

Last week, Alex and I wondered, “Hey, why am I paying $56 a month for 300 minutes and 400 texts through T-mobile? That seems like a lot.” Well, it is. I have had T-Mobile FOREVER and never renewed my contract, meaning, I am not in a contract, but they keep billing me and I keep paying them. Also meaning, I can leave whenever I darn-well please.

I please to leave last week.

After lots of online research and talking to different carrier representatives, we decided on Virgin Mobile.
First of all, because you get unlimited text and data and 300 minutes for $25! Only I talk more than 300 minutes. (I had 300 minutes with T-mobile, but it also had my faves, so calling the family was free.) I used about 750 minutes a month. Hey, that’s not bad news: they have a $40 plan for 1200 minutes!
Second of all, because there’s no contract!

So let’s recap:
T-Mobile: (300 minutes + my faves minutes) 750 minutes + 400 texts = $56 a month
Virgin Mobile: 1200 minutes + UNLIMITED texts + UNLIMITED data/web = $40 a month (with tax $44.10)

Why would I pay more for less stuff?

Here’s the cool part: I am finally smart enough for a smart phone. I got the LG Optimus. Ugh, let me tell you, it was an ordeal. This phone is sold out everywhere. We went straight to Walmart after church: sold out; Target: sold out; Radio Shack: sold out (the associate said four people have already come in asking for it and they had only been open 3 hours!) Because people have figured out that you can get internet and cell phone for only $25 a month!

This phone has “tethering” which means, basically, it is a wifi hot-spot and I can connect up to 4 (or 5) devices through the internet coming from my phone. UNLIMITED DATA USAGE, may I remind you.

So why isn’t everyone doing this? When I called T-Mobile to ask some questions about leaving, I got the schpeel about Virgin Mobile has less coverage than T-Mobile “and if you travel for a living you might not have service.” This is true. Good thing I do not travel for a living. According to the coverage map, there’s coverage in Texas, coverage where my parents live in Oklahoma, and coverage in San Francisco where I will be “travelling” to in two weeks. As I, and some of you, know from previously having AT&T, just because there’s coverage doesn’t mean your call won’t get dropped… or that you’ll even have coverage. So I’ll have to try my phone out in Oklahoma.

How to Use a Foodsaver!

Sandy Drawers brought me a Foodsaver for Christmas. Yay!
I use it every time I buy meat in bulk.
You may be asking, “But what is a Foodsaver and how do you use it?”
Well, let me tell you.
A Foodsaver is a vacuum sealer for things like meat and other perishable items.

First, you cut your bags to the appropriate size you need. Some sides are sealed, some are not. Depending on how you cut your bag, you may need to seal a side, which is done similarly to sealing a bag.

Second, you place your product in the bag.

Third, place unsealed edge of bag on Foodsaver.

Fourth, SEAL! Just press the button. It sucks out all of the air and seals it tight!

And finally, write the date and description of contents.

Viola! You are done. You can now have meat frozen in your freezer for up to 3 years!

Here is ground beef that I froze 2 months ago. Still red!

No more freezer burn.

I ♥ my Foodsaver!

Inception, Bounty Hunters and a dash of Salt

Sounds like an interesting mix, don’t ya think?

First off, here’s a code for a free Blockbuster Express movie rental (those blue kiosks in the grocery stores and gas stations): GT18A

It’s good until August 31.

Unfortunately we wasted ours last night on The Bounty Hunter.
The Bounty Hunter

Blah blah blah. He’s a bounty hunter- she’s a news reporter. They used to be married. She skips a court date. He hunts her down.

***********SPOILER ALERT***********
Whatdoyaknow, they end up back together. Who could have called that? Cheesy.

Luckily, I watched it with moscato and chocolate, so it made the movie a little better. And on the sad side, Gerard isn’t very cute in this movie! Now don’t get me wrong, I find him attractive, but he’s more attractive in The Ugly Truth, 300 and Law Abiding Citizen. Maybe it’s the haircut…

If you are interested in seeing Salt with Angie Pitt, here is a discounted ticket from Studio Movie Grill with a free drink! Salt Good until August 5. Maybe I can convince Alex to go tonight!

I used a discount coupon to see Inception that everyone is talking about. Sorry, coup no longer available.
Inception movie
I went expecting to be completely lost, according to friends and the local radio show, but surprisingly wasn’t! These guys (and girl) IV themselves to sleep, then they can take over each other’s dreams. One guy learns he can get top secret information this way. Not too complicated. The ending is perfect: leaves you hanging on, left to your own conclusion, but that can make you frustrated! The movie is fun, bending your imagination and making the dream world seem like reality. I say if you liked the Matrix, you will LOVE this movie. Definitely a guy movie, but I liked it.
